BookTrove user guide

What's new in October 2026

Releases 34 and 35 let BookTrove keep the books of companies outside Nigeria. Each company now has a country, Nigeria or International. Nigerian companies work exactly as before: nothing needs to be set up again.

What changedWhat it doesWhere
Country: Nigeria or InternationalChosen when a company is created, with its base currency. An owner or administrator can change it only while nothing is posted. Only International turns off the Nigerian features.26.2–26.4
Your own tax codesInternational companies set up their VAT, GST or sales tax codes: rate, sales or purchases, reverse charge, and whether input tax can be recovered. A code never used can be deleted.26.5, 26.6
Tax returnOutput and input tax by tax code for any period, with the net payable or refundable, as a report with CSV and PDF.26.16
Tax codes checked when postingJournal lines, bank lines and bank rules offer only usable codes. Documents, journals and bank lines with a code that is switched off, or used on the wrong side, are refused with a message naming the line. Journal imports take a tax_code column.26.12, 26.13
Filing record and deadlinesMonthly, quarterly or yearly periods with due dates and reminders; a due date for one period; mark as filed, with an optional period lock; files; undo with a reason; the Tax returns report.26.16–26.27
Deadlines everywhereOverdue and due-soon returns on the dashboard, in the practice hub, in the month-end and year-end checklists, and in reminders to owners and administrators.26.25, 26.26
Bank details and payment fileIBAN, sort code, routing code or BIC on suppliers; a bank payment file (CSV) from payment batches. Mono is hidden; Plaid and CSV statements stay.26.7, 26.14, 26.15
Annual financial statementsNeutral wording, and no Nigerian pages or notes, for International companies; registration labels by country ("Company registration number" instead of "RC number", "Professional registration number" instead of "FRC number").26.28–26.30
